No Fund for Madrassas sans Utilisation Certificate

MALDA, 9 AUG: West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education has taken a strict decision not to distribute cheques to those madrasahs which failed to submit their utilization certificate for the funds allotted to them in previous financial years. The fund allotted by the govt. of West Bengal for the infrastructural development of Madrasahs and the financial aid of the minority students which was distributed by WBBME at Malda today is more than 8 crores for 112 madrasahs of Malda and both of Dinajpurs. But due to the non submission of utilization certificate Rs 5.25 crores was distributed today. The fund allotted for the madrsahs who have not yet shown the clarity in submitting utilization certificates has been kept in abeyance. An official of the regional office of the northern region of WBBME informed that previously the madrsahs used to be given Rs 2 lakhs for each additional class room. But this year the board is compelled to release Rs 1.50 lakhs intitially to keep the madrasahs under pressure to submit their utilization certificates in due time. The remaining amount will be released only after the receipt of the utilization cerficates. The fund was distributed in a ceremonious programme at Sanaullah mancha at Malda which was attended by Prf Shrikumar Mukherjee, state minister for civil defense department, Mrs Sabina Yasmin, Sabhadhipati, Malda Zilla Parishad, Mr P K Samanta, DM, Malda and the secretary of WBBME. Prof Mukherjee reminded the madrsah authorities the madrsah authorities that the utilization certificate has a crucial role to play in getting higher financial assistance in the years to come. The Sabhadhipati also urged the Headmasters and secretaries not to forget to submit the utilization certificate in due time to get the further grant. The DM said that the govt. will provide all sorts of financial assistance subject to receipt of utilization certificates. Mr Abdus Sattar, state minister for Madrasah education and minority development could not attend the programme as he had to leave for Kolkata under the instruction of the Chiefminister.
