B Sc Part II Exam Stalled in Chanchal College
MALDA, 17 NOV: B Sc part II examinations had to be stalled following the stalemate resulting from the removal of the teacher in charge (TIC) yesterday. The new TIC Prof Gahul Amin, however, claimed that the postponed examinations would commence from 5 December afresh.
This may be recalled that Dr Anita Chakraborty was removed from the TIC post yesterday by an order issued by the administrator of the college Dr Prantosh Sen. Prof Amin, who replaced Dr Chakraborty by the order, was not handed over the charge as well as the keys of the almirahs containing necessary documents required for the said examinations yesterday. Dr Chakraborty termed the order of the administrator as ‘illegal and vindictive.’
As there was no surety of receiving the important keys from the former TIC, the college authorities had to postpone the examinations till 5 December. However, Prof Amin today said: “I received one set of keys today which was sent to be through someone by the former TIC. Another important set of keys is still in her custody and if she doesn’t return that, we would be compelled to take legal action.” “The postponed examinations would commence from 5 December,” Prof Amin informed.
Meanwhile, the students’ union of the college today felicitated the new TIC and held a crucial meeting with him. “I have been promised fullest cooperation from their end,” Prof Amin added. However, Dr Chakraborty did not turn up at college today. Yesterday she told that she would be on leave to avoid ‘humiliations by a section of staffs.’ However, Prof Amin said clearly: “I was told that she would join on Monday. But if she doesn’t, I would treat her leave as unauthorized ones.”
