Mausam Retaliates Mukul’s Threat to Fight in Pachayat Poll Alone

MALDA, 18 NOV: The Trinamul and Congress blame game shows no sign to end even after two days of the clash at Gazole which took one Trinamul worker’s life. Today the Union Minister of state for shipping and All India general secretary of the Trinamul Mr Mukul Roy alleged, that scared with the rising popularity of their party, Congress and CPI-M together unleash attack on their party workers.

He even claimed that the rinamul would appear as the strongest force in the coming panchayet election without depending on any alliance. On the other hand Mrs Mausam Noor, the Congress MP and state Youth Congress president claimed that the Trinamul would be nowhere without the help of Congress in rural poll.

It may be recalled that on Wednesday the Congress and the Trinamul workers were involved in a clash over a plot of land at village Mahinagar under Gazole police station in which a Trinamul worker Premchand Baul was killed. Besides number of people were seriously injured including a Trinamul leader of the area Mr Majhi Murmu. Mr Roy was here today in connection on his programme at  Itahar in North Dinajpur.

Arriving Malda this morning Mr Roy rushed to the district hospital to meet injured Mr Murmu and handed over Rs 10000 to his relatives as the cost of treatment. Later he visited the house of Baul at Gazole and handed over Rs 50,000 to his family.

Talking to media Mr Roy said, “Along with the entire state, in Malda too trend of joining the Trinamul is increasing. With this the other parties are getting jealous. The death of workers like Baul is the result of such jealousy.” It may be noted at this point that district Trinamul was directly accusing Congress for this murder. Yesterday they had held rallies against Congress as well. Roy said, “At least 50 workers of our party were killed since we have come to power. None involved with such murders will be spared.”

Boasting on his party strength, Mr Roy said, “In the coming Panchayet Poll next year, the Trinamul will emerge the major force in Malda.”

However, sharp reaction to Roy’s comment came from Mrs Noor. She said, “Any death is unfortunate. But how can Trinamul claim the victims as their supporters while both the dead and injured belonged to CPM? TMC is making cheap politics over the clash on land between two groups of farmers.” She further said, “Rather it is TMC which provides shelter to criminals to unleash attack on our party workers.” She referred to attacks on Congress MLA Mr Isha Khan Choudhury on 12th of this month where the Trinamul goons were accused.

On Mr Roy’s comment on Trinamul’s’s strength in the district, Mrs Noor said: “It is ridiculous to make such a claim in the Congress stronghold like Malda. Moreover, the administration in the state is being run in such a manner, it is clear to people by whom TMC stands. In the rural poll they will give a fitting reply and Trinamul will stand nowhere.”
