Seven Year Old Girl Killed after being Allegedly Raped
MALDA, 17 NOV: Sensation gripped Sabdalpur village under Kaliachak police station when a Class III girl was killed after being allegedly raped. In retaliation the house of the accused was ransacked and set on fire. Police rescued the accused and arrested him.
It is learnt that nine years old Sabina Khatun (7), a student of local Jamirghata Primary School went with her six years old brother Wadur to enjoy a village function (jalsha). When they were returning home around 7 pm, one Amirul Sk of the village, a daily labourer, met them on way. It is alleged that Amirul forcibly picked the girl up as reported by Wadur back at home.
But the girl never returned. This morning the body of Sabina was found at the bank of a pond. She was wounded, her gold earrings were missing. Signs of torture were evident on her body. The villagers suspected that the girl was raped and killed. When Ajmira Bibi, mother of the girl informed that Amirul had taken away her daughter, the wrath fell on Amirul’s house. He was out of his house. His younger brother Nur Islam was forced out of his house and was roughed up. His house was ransacked; some even set fire on his house. Later Amirul was recovered from a hideout of the village.
Police were informed and force from Kaliachak Police Station reached the spot. They rescued Amirul from the angry villagers. The superintendent of police Mr Jayanta Pal said, “We have arrested Amirul Sk on charge of stealing the gold earrings of the girl. The body of the girl was sent to post mortem the report of which would reveal whether she was raped and the reason her death.”
