Cache of Arms Recovered in Kaliachak following Teacher’s Murder

Malda, 30 May: Acting on a tip off police have recovered huge arms at Bakharpur under Kaliachak police station. Two youths were arrested in connection of this arms recovery.

It may be noted that yesterday Obaidullah Sheikh, a teacher of a Dariapur Baishi high madrassa was murdered at Sujapur under Kaliachak police station in broad day light. While probing the murder, police came to know about these arms. At night police raided a mango orchard at Bakharpur and held two youths - Firoz Sheikh and Dulal Kabiraj. Searching their houses, police recovered six 8 mm cartridges, 4 pipe-guns, one musket and a 9 mm pistol. They were arrested and produced to court today.

Meanwhile, in another joint operation Kaliachak and Baishnabanagar police recovered arms today. Around 1 pm today a joint team of police raided a bamboo orchard at Sultangunj. 175 crude bombs and 7 masket were recovered by police. To diffuse the bombs fire brigade along with bomb squads were called in. Complaint was lodged against 25 persons in connection with this arms recovery. It is believed that bombs were made to sell to the miscreants. However, none could be arrested in this connection.
