Class IX Student Kills Step-Mother
Malda, 30 May: Class IX boy kills his step mother in sleep. He was arrested and police recovered the sharp weapon. Police have recorded his statement while the family of the woman has lodged a complaint against her husband as well.
It is learnt that Mili Das (35) was married to Sripati Das of Mangalbari a few years back. For Sripati, a small trader of medicine, it was the second marriage as his first wife had died leaving back her son and daughter. However, since the second marriage of Sripati his son Prabir did not have a good relation with his step mother. Sripati had no issue with his second wife.
Last night Sripati was not at home and Mili was sleeping alone in her room. Prabir took the chance and entered the room with a sharp chopper. He first hit Mili at her head and then chopped repeatedly at her belly to kill her on spot. She died on spot and Prabir had left the weapon at the bank of the river. Sripati returned home late at night and found the body of his wife lying in the pool of blood. Police were informed. Police recovered the body of Mili and detained Prabir for interrogation.
Student of local GK High School Prabir on the face of interrogation conceded that he with the help of his friends had killed Mili. He also pointed the spot where the weapon was buried at the bank of the river. Police recovered the weapon and arrested him. His friend was also held for interrogation. Meanwhile Sripati lodged a complaint against his son. On Thursday Prabir will be produced on juvenile court.
From a source of police it is learnt that in the presence of a magistrate Prabir conceded that he had killed his step mother out of vengeance. Mother allegedly used to torture him and his sister. He also alleged that his father had killed his mother Baby Das applying poison for his second marriage. Thus he could not stand his step mother since beginning.
However, mother of Mili, Sandhyarani Dutta alleged that her son in law and Prabir had connived to kill her daughter. A complaint was lodged in this regard. Uncle of Mili Subrata Dutta claimed that Sripati had an eye to the property in the name of Mili. Superintendent of police Jayanta Pal said, “Enquiry has begun following a murder case.”
