Later she was taken to Narayanpur, about 5 km away from the town. There in a desolate place she was raped repeatedly by the miscreants. Around 1.00 am she was dropped at a place on Highway. Police found the lady walking alone around 1.00 visibly distraught. She told about her experience. She was then taken to Malda Medical College and Hospital by police. Her husband lodged a complaint of gang-rape on Wednesday morning.

Yesterday police artists made the sketches of the culprits as per victim’s description. Later at night police raided several places of the district searching the culprits. Eventually police arrested Hanif Sheikh and Mainuddin Sheikh from the villages around the place of occurrence.

Superintendent of police Jayanta Pal said, “Two culprits have already been arrested on the basis of sources’ information. They have criminal records against them before also. They work for maintenance of a mobile tower. We are tracking the other criminals who would soon be in our net.”

However, Mr Pal refused that the woman was kidnapped. He said: “Primary enquiry revealed that she went with the culprits herself. More truth would be revealed with the advancement of the enquiry.”
