Two Arrested with 1.6 Kg Narcotics

Malda, 31 May: Police recovered 1.6 kilogram narcotics and arrested two persons who were carrying the article were arrested. It has been learnt that working on a tip off police arrested Abdul Khalque and Mithu Sheikh, inhabitants of Golapganj and Silampur areas respectively, from Chowringhee more under Kaliachak police station last night and recovered the narcotics from them.

 The duo, suspected to be carriers, was trying to smuggle the article to Mumbai, as learnt from police sources. Superintendent of police Jayanta Pal said, “The narcotics seem to be opium powder. We’re keeping close vigil on narcotics smuggling rackets and trying our best to their punishment.” It has been learnt from sources that the price of the narcotics in clandestine market may be more than a crore rupees.
