Miscreants Loot Reserved Compartments of Padatik Express
MALDA, 16 JUNE: Sealdah bound Padatik Express was attacked by armed miscreants last night around 12.10 am when the train was stranded at the outer signal of Eklakhi station. The miscreants allegedly looted cash, ornaments mobile phone and other valuable articles of the passengers of reserved S-1, S-2, S- 4 and S- 6 compartments. Kanailal and Debjani Dutta, a couple, was seriously injured in this attack and was hospitalized. It is alleged that the miscreants maneuvered the signal of the track and unleashed the attack in an attempt of robbery.
The angry passengers came down heavily on the railway officials and police as the train reached Malda town station around 1.15 am alleging that no railway police or TTE was seen during the miscreants’ operation. Later on, the railway officials assured them to look into their grievances and the agitation was lifted. The train left for Sealdah around 3.15 am.
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Katihar Division BS Patil ordered a probe on this dacoity at Padatik Express. It has been learnt that the SRP of Siliguri Shyamal Bhattacharya is coming to Malda today to probe into alleged lapses on security.
