Congress Blames Mamata for Dilapidated Condition of NH
Malda, October 12, 2012: PCC chief Pradip Bhattacharya blames Trinamul Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee's policy for delay in repairing the National Highway across the state. After the separation the couple finds everything to quarrel with.
If it was introducing FDI or setting up AIIMS at the outset, even the issue of National Highway is not missed. When Trinamul Congress takes up the issue of poor condition of National Highway to the Centre’s court, Congress too is not ready to let it go. Instead they are out to unleash their attack on state government.
It may be noted that a few days back Trinamul Congress minister Goutam Deb staged an agitation before the National Highway Authority of India office with the demand of repairing the NH. Chief Minister herself too blamed the Centre for its poor maintenance of NH. Now Pradip Bhattacharya, PCC chief reacted sharply to this. On his visit to Malda yesterday, Bhattacharya said, “It is the policy of state govt that hinders any sort of development in the state. The expansion of NH is stopped owing to land scarcity; people are not ready to give lands bolstered with the faulty land policy of this government. How can the roads be extended?”
He however, conceded that poor condition of the existing road was unbearable. “With no scope of expansion of the road now we have to plea for the repairing of the road. We’ll take up the issue to the centre. But state govt must realize that their suicidal approach leads nowhere,” Bhattacharya said.
