After Dalu Mausam Noor Certifies Gujrat Style of Development
Malda, November 16, 2012: After the Union health minister of state (MoS) Abu Hasem Khan Choudhury (Dalu) now it’s the turn of the state Youth Congress (YC) president and Malda north MP Mausam Noor to certify the Gujrat model of development led by BJP icon Narendra Modi. Noor’s statement, however, has drawn flak from CPI-M and the Trinamul Congress immediately.
It may be mentioned that Dalu babu on 13 November suggested that the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee should consider the development of the state following the Gujrat model of development. He said, “Ignoring political differences all political parties are invited together to sustain the development there. Same model should be followed in West Bengal also.”
However, Dalu’s appreciation of Gujrat style of development under the leadership of redoubtable BJP leader Narendra Modi embarrassed the Congress leadership particularly at a crucial time when the Central Congress leadership has been sharpening all political weapons to defeat Modi in Gujrat.
Today when Noor was asked about the comment of Mr Khan Choudhury, she said that the Union MoS was right in his statement. “Dalu Babu was right and there was nothing wrong in his comment,” Noor said.
When asked if such comments would benefit the BJP politically before the Gujrat assembly election, Noor said, “We are not certifying any individual. But there is no harm in praising one who has done some commendable job despite ideological and political differences.”
However, CPI-M Central committee member and former MP Mohammed Salim strongly criticized the recent comments of the two important Congress MPs from West Bengal including a Union minister. “It’s very unfortunate that the Congress MPs are passing comments praising the Gujrat government led by a leader like Narendra Modi. They do not know the reality about activities of Modi government,” Salim said.
He added that the Congress leadership should take strong action about such comments made by their minister and MP.
Chairman of Trinamul Congress led All India Minority Forum Idris Ali also criticized Mr Khan Choudhury and Noor. “Mamata Banerjee has her own model of development and she doesn’t need to follow the model exercised by a communal face like Narendra Modi,” Ali said.
He also said, “Mamata Banerjee doesn’t require any suggestion from any Congress minister or MP about the development of the state. She is a role model of communal harmony.” He added, “Such comments by senior Congress leaders prove their political bankruptcy.”
