Another Khan Choudhury to Lead Dist Congress after Dalu?

Malda, November 1, 202: Proving the news of Voice of Malda to be true the elder brother of Union health minister of state (MOS) AH Khan Choudhury (Dalu), Dr AN Khan Choudhury (Lebu), in all likelihood, is going to take over as the de facto district Congress chief as the Working President of the district Congress committee (DCC). His statement to the media today sparked the speculations in this regard further.

Lebu, brother of late Ghani Khan Choudhury and Dalu was speaking to the media at DCC office on occasion of late Ghani Khan’s 86thbirthday today. He significantly said, “I’m free after I have resigned as an MOS of the state government obeying the decision of the Congress. Now, I can afford adequate time in Malda.” He is now a Congress MLA from Sujapur which was the home ground of late Ghani Khan and also the chairman of Ghani Khan Choudhury Institute of Engineering and Technology (GKCIET).

This may be mentioned that after Malda south MP and DCC president Dalu was sworn in 28 October as the health and family welfare MOS in Union government, speculations were rife about the new DCC president as AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi also pleaded for ‘One Man, One Post’ policy.

AN Khan Choudhury (Lebu)
Lebu today said, “I don’t think it would be a problem for Dalu to manage the DCC even after serving as a MOS in Delhi. What he can want in maximum is a helping hand like a Working DCC Presidentto run the DCC as Pranab Mukherjee, as the state Congress Chief, once appointed Pradip Bhattacharya as the Working President.”

“I’m by and large free now. I mainly concentrate on education as the GKCIET Chairman. But I think I can help Dalu well as the Working DCC president if the situation as well as the party policy demands so,” Lebu added.

However, a senior Congress leader and member of the DCC preferring anonymity said, “If Lebu Da is made the Working DCC president, we would have to face further embarrassment as the question of dynastic politics would once again pierce us particularly when English Bazaar Congress MLA Krishnendu Choudhury is quitting the party raising the issue.”
