Dalu Seeks CM’s Help in Setting Up Cancer Hospital in State and Developing Health Infrastructure
Malda, November 25, 2012: Union minister of state (MoS) for health and family planning AH Khan Choudhury (Dalu) has sought the cooperation of the state government in developing the infrastructure of health service in the state. He has already written a letter to the chief minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee in this regard.
Khan Choudhury today said to the reporters that a cancer hospital should be set up in the state near Kolkata and the Union government would bear the cost of the hospital. “Patients suffering from cancer are compelled to go out of state for better treatment. But poor patients suffering from cancer often cannot afford to go out of the state. Considering their condition the Union government wants to set up a cancer hospital in the vicinity of Kolkata and the state government’s help is an imperative to have the necessary land for the hospital, Khan Choudhury said. He added that the entire cost of setting up the hospital would be borne by the Union government.
Besides, the Union health MoS said that he wanted to build another cancer hospital in Malda which would serve the patients suffering from the deadly decease in north Bengal and other northe east states. He expressed his concern in detection of cancer in large number of inhabitants in north Dariapur village in Kaliachak.
“I have already written a letter to the CM and sought her help. I would sit with her to formulate a strategy for development of health service in the state,” Khan Choudhury said.
Meanwhile, Khan Choudhury, who is the district Congress committee (DCC) president too, said, “Departure of Krishnendu Choudhury, the new tourism minister, from the Congress won’t weaken party’s base in Malda. It’s traditional Congress bastion and would continue remaining so. Departure of one or two leaders would not demoralize us.”
