Cruise Service on Card after Paragliding Introduced in Malda
MALDA, 31 DEC: State tourism department is soon going to launch cruise service in the Ganga between Malda and Murshidabad. Minister in charge of the tourism department Krishnendu Choudhury informed that such a tourist package is under active consideration of his department.
Mr Choudhury said, “Introduction of helicopter service in North Bengal and Sunderbans is on the card. Besides, we are going to introduce a cruse in river Ganga at Manikchak of Malda which will sail to Farakka and Hazarduari in a tourist package. Negotiation with number of agencies is going on in this regard.”
Meanwhile, the tourism minister inaugurated paragliding service in Malda. It would help the citizens to get a bird’s eye view of the city. Such services may be introduced in other smaller towns of the state also after Digha.
Anyone can book this ride on power paragliding on line from any part of the state. Apart from the tourists spots like Dooras, Darjeeling and Sundarbans this ride will soon be introduced at Siliguri and other smaller town of the state.
“This is indeed a new concept in Eastern India after Pune and Goa,” said Sourik Kar, Chief Executive Officer of the company which operates the ride. Mr Kar added, “With the vision of chief minister to make Digha as Goa, we have introduced this latest form of water sports at Digha. It can fly up to 16000 ft but at Digha we are flying it at 3000 ft which is enough to enjoy by the tourists.” Already four motors of power paragliding are operational in the state.
Two seated gliding machine including a pilot can take a person for 10 minutes ride at the cost of Rs 2500. Although to be introduced mainly in the tourist spots of the state this machine will soon visit the smaller towns of the state. Mr Choudhury said, “We have to cater the tourists with latest sort of entertainment. The initial response was very encouraging.”
Amlan Bhaduri, district Trinamul Youth Congress president who availed the paragliding service at Malda aerodrome ground said, “It’s a unique experience to view your city from above!”
