All Political Parties Happy with Archana’s Transfer as Malda DM
MALDA, 4 MARCH: Most of the political parties expressed their profound content after the District Magistrate of Malda Archana Meena was transferred today to the backward-class development department of the state government as the joint secretary. She would be replaced by the Kiran Kumar, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA).
It may be mentioned that during her tenure Archana became cynosure of controversies several times both in political circles as well as administrative circles. She was accused of confining a woman NVF worker in the toilet after the latter reportedly failed to handle the air-conditioner of the DM. She was entangled in controversy with the then ADM, Malda Nurul Islam and had to face protest from WBCS (Exe) officials.
Several allegations of neglecting the people’s representatives of the political parties were lodged against Archana by many political parties including the Congress, the CPI-M, the BJP and even the ruling Trinamul Congress.
Congress leader and former minister of state Sabina Yeasmin, district CPI-M secretary Ambar Mitra, district BJP secretary Ajay Ganguly and many other political leaders overwhelmingly welcomed the transfer of Archana as Malda DM.
Mrs Yeasmin said, “She grossly misbehaved with the political parties several times and we doubt if at all she has the ability to manage the district administrations. We are happy with her transfer.”
“We have never seen such an insolent DM before. She did not know how to behave with people’s representatives. We complained against her many times,” Mr Mitra said.
Though the administrative staff of Malda Collectorate refused to speak about Archana’s transfer on record, they said that they were pretty happy with her removal as Malda DM.
