Dalu Leaves Opponents at Bay asset wise

Malda, 9 April, 2014: One has to wait till 16 May to learn whether he would succeed to register a hat trick in winning the Lok Sabha election but late Ghani Khan’s youngest brother and Malda south Congress candidate Abu Hasem Khan Chowdhury (Dalu) with his four car including two SUVs and two flats in Kolkata has already beaten his poll-competitors according to the affidavits filed during nomination.

Dalu (70), who was first elected an MP in 2006 by-election after Ghani Khan’s demise, has a diploma in leather technology from North Central College, England and he underwent industrial Phd training from T. University, Canada in 1975.  His annual income as stated in affidavit is Rs 7,97730.

Dalu’s movable assets including four cars and 10 gram gold ring value Rs 30,02825 while his wife Ruth Khan Chowdhury has an immovable asset is only a 20 gram gold ring pricing Rs 58,000, the affidavit informs. Dalu has two flats in Kolkata and 1 bigha land in Kotowali, Malda and value of his immovable assets is Rs 85,00000.

Interestingly, such a rich Congress candidate too has a bank loan of Rs 6,54320 for purchasing a vehicle.

Abul Hasnat Khan
CPI-M candidate in this seat Abul Hasnat Khan (67), a former MP and MLA does not too far behing Dalu though. An MA in modern history from Rabindra Bharati University, Khan’s annual income is Rs 4,59500. Comprehensive value of his family’s movable assets is Rs 2,85663 including his motorcycle and wife Rokkeya Khanam’s 60 gram gold.

Though the value of the immovable assets owned by Khan is only Rs 5,00000 his wife possesses immovable assets of Rs 1 crore. He, however, has no financial liabilities, the affidavit claims.

Dr Moazzem Hossain
Wealth of a doctor turned politician Moazzem Hossain (57), who is trying his luck from Malda south parliamentary constituency on a Trinamul Congress ticket, is no less worth mentioning. Bagging the 1st position in the district in school final examination in 1972, Dr Hossain later obtained an MBBS degree and a diploma in gynecology. Hailing from Bhagabanpur village of Baishnabnagar area he is now a resident of Salt Lake in Kolkata. His wife

His annual income is Rs 2033737 while his wife’s annual income is Rs 278504. Dr Hossain has a movable asset of Rs 26,56738 including a platinum ring, two cars and a 22 bore pistol. Value of his immovable assets is Rs 52,50000, the affidavit shows. His wife Sara Mannan Hossain, a teacher of Loreto School in Sealdah holds movable assets of Rs 6,63693 including 216 gram gold.

Bisnupada Roy
BJP’s Malda south candidate Bisnupada Roy (50) is a major contender with criminal records against his name. An MA in Bengali from Burdwan University and now headmaster of a school Roy was charged under section 447, 427, 506 and 34 of IPC in a case in English Bazaar police station in 2007.

Roy’s annual income as shown in affidavit is Rs 5,99844 and income of his wife Bithika Roy, a school teacher is Rs 4,21390. Value of his total movable asset including 50 gram gold and two motorcycles is Rs 3,21678 and his wife has movable asset of Rs 15,32328 including 400 gram gold. Mr Roy has immovable assets of Rs 35,50000 and financial liability of bank loan of Rs 8,00000.
