Delay in serving food: Son hacks mother to death
Malda, 30 January: A tribal woman has been hacked to death by her son only for delaying to serve him food. The heart-rending incident occurred last night at Badhpara village of Bhabuk gram panchayat in Malda police station last night. On the basis of the complaint of Rabi Hansda, the elder son of the deceased woman Kurmi Hembram (50), police arrested the accused Zuna Hansda today and produced him in court.
It has been learnt from police sources that a daily wage earner Zuna demanded an early dinner on Thursday evening after coming back home. However, as the dinner was not cooked by then, Zuna’s mother Kurmi asked her younger son to wait for some time. Astonishingly enraged by his mother’s words, Zuna allegedly started hacking his mother. Hearing her scream, the elder son of Kurmi Hembram, Rabi Hansda rushed to the spot and raised a yell demanding help from the neighbours.
The local residents rushed to the spot and being initially numb at discovering the woman in the pool of blood, they soon caught Zuna and started beating him from pillar to post. Later, Zuna was handed over to police.
Rabi Hansda lodged a police complaint against his brother.
SP Prasun Banerjee said, “Police arrested the accused. A case has been started against him.”
