BSF, GRP jointly arrest two fake currency peddlers with Rs 2.84 lakh
Malda, 6 February, 2015: In a joint operation with government railway police (GRP), the intelligence branch of border security force (BSF) today arrested two persons with fake currencies amounting Rs 2.84 lakh and three mobile phone-sets and ATM cards. GRP and BSF have started probe into matter.
It has been learnt from GRP sources that those two peddlers were identified as Sahabuddin Sheikh (30) and Mohammed Yasin (20). They were from Purnia district in Bihar. Those two peddlers were reportedly loitering at platform no. 2 of Malda town station when they were arrested jointly by the GRP and the BSF.
BSF sources informed that the peddler duo collected those fake currencies from Kaliachak and were waiting in Malda station to catch a Bihar-bound train.
Inspector in charge of Malda station GRP Krishnagopal Dutta informed that 116 counterfeit notes of Rs 1,000 and 336 counterfeit notes of Rs 500 were recovered from the duo.
