‘Injured’ teacher seeks CM’s intervention against 'assault' by “minister’s goons,” minister raises questions
Malda, 12 February, 2015: The issue of manhandling of a Trinamul Congress supporter and primary teacher Kajal Goswami (42) allegedly by the followers of minister Krishnendu Choudhury in his presence has been reported to party’s top leadership and disciplinary committee by the district Trinamul Congress president Dr Moazzem Hossain. He claimed to have brought the matter to the notice of SP Prasun Banerjee also though the teacher has not yet registered any FIR against anyone yet.
On the other hand Mr Choudhury said that he would not react in this regard as the concerned teacher did not accuse him directly yet. However, the minister questioning the role of Dr Hossain said that as the party’s district chief he should have rescued a party worker when he was allegedly being roughed up.
It may be mentioned that a teacher of Uttar Ramchandrapur primary school and member of Trinamul Congress siksha cell (TMCSC) Mr Goswami alleged he was recently tagged with news concerning the probable interrogation of ministers Goutam Deb and Krishnendu Choudhury on his Facebook account. He claimed that on 10 January night while he went to see off Dr Hossain, some henchmen of Mr Choudhury roughed him up at Malda town station in presence of the minister himself.
The teacher and his wife Chandrani expressing concern of their future said that they have been shifting from one house to another as they claim to have been reeling under “acute insecurity.” Citing the security issue the couple did not even lodge any police complaint.
Statement of the teacher on social media on Thursday
Today Mr Goswami did not receive any call over phone. His wife said, “We cannot reveal our whereabouts as we are too scared.” However, the teacher chose Facebook again to seek intervention of chief minister Mamata Banerjee to get justice against his assault by the “goons of the minister."
Dr Hossain said over phone, “I have informed the matter to the disciplinary committee of the party as well as the top leadership. As a minister’s name has been referred to, the party leadership would take decision in this regard.” He further added that he spoke to the SP Prasun Banerjee after the teacher was roughed up.
Mr Choudhury said, “I do not know what happened at the station on 10 February night. I was at station to board the train. No allegation has been made against me directly. But if a party worker had been roughed up while the district president was present in the station, as a leader he should have rushed to the party worker’s rescue.”
“District working president Prativa Singh was molested last year in presence of the district president Dr Hossain. Then too he did not take any action. I have heard that rather he attended an invitation at the house of accused. Hence, comments should be made responsibly,” the minister added.
SP Mr Banerjee said, “Police have not received any written complaint. So, I would not comment in this regard.”
